Escape Velocity

“In order to achieve escape velocity, we must learn to keep our own counsel, to move silently among doubters, to voice our plans only among our allies, and to name our allies accurately.”
– Julia Cameron

I love actress and comedic musician Riki Lindhome‘s response to wet blankets who try to smother her artistic enthusiasm: she tells them “I am not accepting that type of feedback at this time.” So funny and smart!

That’s it. I am through all of The Artist’s Way. I have not made any drastic changes, but I do think my outlook has subtly changed in the year since I first encountered the book.

I will continue to write morning pages every day, take a weekly artist’s date, and explore what interests me. And I will continue to work toward not being too wigged out by the scary birthday that looms on the horizon.

Blast-off!
