This book is rad. One of the exercises it suggests to combat boring scenes is called the vulnerable circle. You know, like a cute kitten is vulnerable.
The idea is to encircle the person who’s up, and let them say intimate things about themselves. If they struggle the book recommends prompts like “what is your biggest goal for yourself?” or “what is one thing you would change about your personality?”
The sort of questions that are just inherently interesting to ask, I think, hence their power to combat dullness.
